Overview
The Ketu North Municipal is one of the 18 MMDAs in the Volta Region. It was carved out of the then Ketu South by a Legislative Instrument, L.I 1843 of 2007 and in 2017 the district was elevated to Municipal status by Legislative Instrument, L.I 2282 of 2017 and was inaugurated on the 15th March, 2018.
It has its administrative capital at Dzodze which lies about 80km South of Ho, the regional capital.
Ketu North Municipal is located between Latitude 6o 03’N and 6o 20’N and Longitude 0o 49’E and 1o 05’E. It shares boundaries with the Akatsi North District to the north, the Keta Municipality to the south-west, Republic of Togo to the east. To the south, it is bounded by the Ketu South Municipality and to the west by the Akatsi South District. The Municipality covers a total surface area of 423.8 square kilometers representing 2.1 percent of the total land area of the Volta Region.
Relief, Drainage, Climate and Vegetation
The district is low lying and drained mainly by rivers Tordzi, Aka and Kplikpa. These rivers drain into the Keta-Avu Lagoon, which is the eastern extension of the Keta lagoon. Marshy land exists near the lagoon. There is a dam on the river Kplikpa at Dekpor. Water in this dam is used to irrigate farms in Afife and Weta sub districts. The vegetation is of the low grassland type changing to shrubs when one moves away from the southern sector of the district. There are two rainy seasons. The major rainy season is in March to June and the minor season begins in September and ends in November.
Demography
According to the 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC), General Report Volume 3A, The
Ketu North Municipal has a population size of 114,846 made up of 53,932 Males and 60,914 Females representing 47.0% and 53.0% respectively. This represents 6.9% of the total population of the Volta Region.
The Ketu North Municipal has a population density of about 462 persons per square kilometre.
The population growth rate of the municipality is 1.27%. The number of Households within the Municipality is 35,076 with a Household size of 3.2. The urban dwellers are 47,212 and 67,634 are settlers in rural.
primary Healthcare Facilities
Accra is equipped with numerous primary healthcare facilities, including a teaching hospital, hospitals, polyclinics, clinics, a maternity homes, private facilities, and quasi-governmental and CHAG facilities. These facilities provide essential services such as general consultations, preventive care, maternal and child health services, immunizations, family planning, and health education, acting as the first point of contact for healthcare needs. The Metropolis as well has 61 CHPS Zones through which it offers services in the community.The total OPD attendance for 2023 was 545,067 with Upper respiratory tract infections being the top cause of OPD attendance.
Healthcare delivery
The Municipal is demarcated into six (6) Sub-Municipals with about 332 communities for healthcare administration. There are twenty-six (6) functional health facilities comprising of 13 CHPS compounds, 2 Clinics, 7 Health Centres, 4 Hospitals of different ownerships providing mainly primary health care for the inhabitants

Occupation
The people living in the area are petty traders, farmers and weavers with a few government workers interspersed among them.
Religion
Most of the inhabitants of the district are traditional worshipers followed by Christians with various denominations and few Moslems.
