Profile of Berekum West District

Berekum West District Health Directorate is the administrative head of the health department of the District Assembly. The Assembly is of the 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana and forms part of the 12 administrative districts in the Bono Region. Jinijini serves as the administrative capital of the district and is about 47 km from Sunyani, the Regional Capital. The district is located on the south-western part of the Bono Region and was established by a legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2337. It shares boundaries with Dormaa East District in the south-west, north-east by Jaman South Municipal and north-west by Tain District. There are 24 communities/settlements which have been grouped by the health directorate administratively into three (3) sub-districts. The three administrative sub-districts are Botokrom, Jinijini and Koraso Sub-Districts. The estimated population of the district is 51,563 according to the 2020 population and housing census.
