Overview
Ledzokuku Municipal, with Teshie as the capital was formerly known as Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal until Krowor Municipal was carved out in 2018. The Municipal is bounded to the west by La Dadekotopon, to the East by Krowor Municipal, Northwards by Ayawaso West Municipal and southwards by the Gulf of Guinea. The 2024 population is estimated at 239,193, with 57,406 women in fertile age (WIFA) and 9,568 children under the age of one year.
The local government is helmed by the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly with 24 electoral areas and 1 parliamentary constituency. The natives are predominantly fishermen and fishmongers, contributing to the district’s vibrant fishing industry. Other residents are petty traders, formal sector workers like health workers and teachers.

The health facilities in Ledzokuku include the LEKMA Hospital and the Teshie Community Clinic, which are government-owned. In addition to these facilities, there are ten (10) others comprising seven (7) private, one (1) Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) and two (2) Quasi Government facilities. The are two Sub-municipals (Teshie North and Teshie South) and 12 CHPS zones which are all functional and reporting data into DHIMS2.

Ledzokuku municipal is home to the Teshie Nursing and midwifery training school and Family Health University College however, Ledzokuku faces significant staffing challenges, with insufficient number of health human resources to meet the demands especially in the public sector.
