Profile
Background
Emily Amponsah is a seasoned Public Health Practitioner (PHP) with extensive experience in serving various communities and in multiple capacities within the country. She began her career as a Community Health Nurse (CHN) in 1998 in the then Sene District of the Brong Ahafo Region. Emily served in the remotest community within the District with passion, dedication, and commitment. Through her hard work and the same passion, dedication, and commitment, she rose from CHN through the ranks to become a Registered General Nurse, a Physician Assistant, and a Sub-Municipal Leader from 2010 to 2014 and 2014 to 2022, respectively.
Emily’s desire to contribute to decision-making processes and help in community development through health delivery motivated her to climb the academic ladder. In 2017, Emily gained admission to pursue a Master’s in Public Health with a specialty in Health Policy Planning. This Master’s Degree, combined with her role as a Sub-Municipal Leader and the mentorship of District Directors Ms. Celestina Asante and Dr. Akosua Owusu Sarpong, equipped her with the knowledge and expertise to navigate the complexities of public health program planning and implementation in the primary health care landscape.
Emily’s performance as a Sub-Municipal Leader gained recognition from both the District and Regional Health Directorates. The then Regional Director of Health Service, Mrs. Alberta Biritwum Nyarko, appointed her as the Acting District Director of Health Service, assigning her to the Akwapim South Health Directorate in 2020.
