Background
Cosmos Awortwi is a dedicated healthcare professional with over two decades of experience in disease control, public health, and administrative leadership. He currently serves as the District Director of Health Service at the Bia East District Health Directorate in the Western North Region of Ghana. Cosmos has an impressive academic background and is at the completion stage of a Master of Public Health (MPH). He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from the University of Cape Coast, a Diploma in Community Health, and a Certificate in Communicable Disease Control from the Rural Health Training School in Kintampo. This extensive education has equipped him with comprehensive knowledge and skills essential for effective health service management.
Professional Profile
Cosmos Awortwi’s career in public health began at the Western Regional Disease Control Office, where he worked as a Field Technician in charge of Cold Chain Management and later as the Acting Regional EPI Coordinator. He then served as the Technical Officer and District Disease Control Officer at the Wassa Amenfi West District Health Directorate. His leadership skills were further recognized when he was appointed as the Acting District Director of Health Service at the Wassa Amenfi Central District Health Directorate and subsequently at the Sefwi Akontombra District Health Directorate. In November 2022, he was appointed as the District Director of Health Service for the Bia East District. Cosmos has demonstrated a proactive approach, adaptability, and commitment to improving public health outcomes. He is fluent in English, Fante, and Twi, bridging communication gaps and enhancing community engagement in diverse populations. Cosmos is also proficient in Microsoft Office tools, facilitating efficient data management and presentation.
