settlements
Kwadaso is mainly considered an urban area with sixteen major human settlements and communities, including Apatrapa-Poku-krom, Nyankyerenease, Topre, Asuoyeboah, Denchenmuoso, Apire, Atwima-Takyiman, Nwamase, Kwadaso, Nzema, Edwenase, Tanoso, Ohwimase, Kokode, and Atwima Amanfrom. These settlements are divided into nine electoral areas with nine elected assembly members. The municipality’s settlements are mainly homogeneous and are situated along significant access roads. However, some linkages between these settlements are challenging due to poor road networks.
economic activities
The data reveals that 38.9% of the population is employed in service and sales, with the majority being females (55.1%) compared to males (22.0%). Conversely, skilled agricultural, forestry, and fishery workers have the lowest employment rate at 2.6%, with more males (3.0%) than females (3.0%) engaged in these fields.
The Municipality has scattered markets, including the leading trading centres of Tanoso, Edwenase, Kwadaso-Onion market, and Kwadaso Wood Markets.
education
There currently exist a total of 102 educational facilities in Kwadaso Municipal. These consist of primary schools (from Pre-School to JHS), Senior High Schools (SHS), Vocational and Technical Schools, the Agric College, the SDA Nursing College of Health, and other Tertiary Institutions, including the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and
Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) among others (Source: Metro Education Department, 2018). The primary schools constitute most of these institutions due to the level of enrolment.
Most preschools and primary schools are in the private sector. There are more males (43.2%) than females (38.0%) in schools, suggesting a significant hindrance to female education. Those factors could be a result of teenage pregnancy and abuse cases, among others. Again, whereas 9% of the entire population of the Municipality has never been to school, 40.5% are said to have been to school in the past.
transportation
Public vehicles (taxis and “trotro”) are the primary means of transportation. The Kumasi
Airport supports air travel to and from the National City Accra and Tamale in the Northern Region. An asphalted road facilitates access to and from the airport.
telecommunication
Only one fixed-line operator, Vodafone Ghana Ltd., operates in the municipality. Five mobile telecommunications network companies, including Vodafone, Tigo—Airtel, and MTN, also operate there.
health service
The municipality’s health structure aims to address diverse healthcare needs effectively. There are 23 health facilities in the Municipality. Three are government-owned, making up only 13% of the total. These numbers underscore the necessity of collaboration with the private sector for effective service delivery to ensure high-quality and fair healthcare distribution for all residents.

Two major hospitals (SDA, Kwadaso, and HopeXchange Medical Centre) serve as referral hospitals, leading to an increasing number of maternal deaths, which is a concerning trend. The Health Directorate is implementing measures to reduce the incidence of these maternal deaths significantly.
